Yahoo! 知識+ : 文章中These and those 好難搞不清

The sentence: The government is preserving the heritages and culture of the city since (these/those) are always the attractions to tourists

I don't know whether these or those should be used in the sentence. 
Either these or those / both of these and those could I use in the above sentence? 

The sentence above always confuses me >>中文these這些those那些, 但這是近定是遠, 分不到, 對話時可以指著物件,知道近遠, 但敍述以上句子究竟heritages and culture是近定是遠, I cannot distinguish their differences.


答:

If something happened in the past, the usage of 'that' or 'those' is more appropriate.

On the other hand, we use 'this' or 'these'.

如果句子是用過去式,用‘that’或‘those’,其餘用'this' or 'these'。
