 erupt

= to burst out suddenly and forcefully, such as a volcano releasing lava, ash, and gases


The volcano erupted violently, spewing ash and lava into the sky.  

Mark watched in awe as the volcano erupted after years of dormancy.

The volcano erupted early in the morning, blanketing the area in ash.
